Something strange is happening
Unit 9 · Something Strange Is Happening: The explaining goes after, and now it starts.
Session A · the reading
About 55 minutes. Open and read aloud before any framing: no introduction, no “today we’re looking at”. Scripture first, then the Father.
- The ancient homily for Holy Saturday: “there is a great silence on earth today”
- Chrysostom’s Paschal Homily, aloud on Easter morning
Session B · the argument
About 35 minutes, on another day. Never both in one sitting.
The Tile Board. Ink the pencilled lines that still hold, each as an arrow from a card to what it points to. Rub out the rest. Ask once where the arrows go, then leave it.
Video. The overview of Mark, at last.
The Tile Board
Add a card: Ink the arrows, with the passage and today’s date. Pencil a line to another card only if the child sees one.
Books this week
Optional: one piece of media
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005). Watched together, with nothing said about why it was chosen; how the list was made.
The explaining goes after, and now it starts.
