Mark, sittings three and four

Unit 8 · Mark: Easter 2027 is Year B, so the Vigil Gospel is Mark 16:1–7. The child reads the book in Lent and hears its last page sung in the dark.

Session A · the reading

About 55 minutes. Open and read aloud before any framing: no introduction, no “today we’re looking at”. Scripture first, then the Father.

  1. Mark 8:27–13:37

Session B · the argument

About 35 minutes, on another day. Never both in one sitting.

The last sitting. Mark 14:1–16:8.

Unanswerable. Why does Mark end with the women saying nothing, for they were afraid?

The Tile Board

Add a card: The young man in white (Mark 16:5), with the passage and today’s date. Pencil a line to another card only if the child sees one.

Books this week

Optional: one piece of media

A Man for All Seasons (1966). Watched together, with nothing said about why it was chosen; how the list was made.

Mark 16:1–7 will be the Vigil Gospel. The child has now read the page they will hear sung.
