The arts, photography among them
Making
The sculptor acts on the bronze, and the statue is the bronze given a form, not a new thing. The camera is the same: light acts on the sensor, and the maker gives the picture its form.

Soap, by Its Causes
On the eve of All Saints the dead hold a session on a bar of soap. Francis begins with what it is for; Bacon wants its law and not its end; Chevreul shows what it is made of, and that the soap-maker does not make it; Aristotle gives four answers to why; Plato carves at the joints; Ockham cuts away what is not needed; Thomas sets the thing between two intellects. The chair takes back one word: the causes are not a sum but an order, and the end is the cause of causes. With a dub track for Strudel.
